A 6 years old child passes away several weeks after father’s death caused by a lightning strike.

To support Grayson’s fight, the family launched a GoFundMe campaign. Yet, despite the weeks that passed since the dreadful incident on May 15th, Grayson’s condition did not significantly improve. Consequently, the family was advised by the medical team to make the heartrending decision to discontinue life support on June 13th. In a heartbreaking turn of events, Grayson gave in to his injuries just three days later.

The tragic incident took place around 5 p.m. on May 15th, 2023. Matthew was on his way to pick up his sons from the bus stop. While one son, Elijah, took a different path, Matthew and Grayson stayed closer to the edge of the driveway when the ominous rumble of thunder marked the onset of the tragic event.

Elijah, in recounting the traumatic event, spoke of rushing back to his father and brother, initially not grasping the severity of the situation.

“Overcome with fear, I turned Grayson over to see a weak smile on his face,” the 11-year-old Elijah narrated during an interview. “At first, I assumed it was some sort of prank. But, when I turned my father over, I saw blood coming from his head and his face had already turned a purplish hue.”
