Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani showered each other with love on their second wedding anniversary.
Stefani had doubts about Shelton embracing her three sons, but he continues to prove her wrong.
Shelton even plans to take a huge step in his career to spend time with Stefani’s boys and his wife.
Blake Shelton and his wife, Gwen Stefani, got married in 2021. Shelton, who doesn’t have any kids of his own, became a stepdad to Stefani’s three sons.
In 2022, Shelton, a country music star, announced his plans to leave “The Voice,” NBC’s hit singing competition show, after being a voice coach for 23 seasons.
On July 4, 2023, Shelton and Stefani celebrated their second wedding anniversary. The couple posted on their Instagram lovely pictures as they wished each other a happy anniversary.
Shelton shared a picture of the two at their wedding. In the photo, the couple kissed and looked so in love next to a tiered wedding cake. Shelton wrote in the caption, “Happy anniversary @gwenstefani!!!! Every day has been the best day since I met you.”
Stefani also showered Shelton with love. She posted a video showing the couple at different stages in their relationship, including their wedding, going on dates, and spending time with family. “Happy anniversary @blakeshelton i love u 🥰!!!,” she captioned the post.
Shelton and Stefani seem to be enjoying their wedding anniversary on vacation. The singer posted a series of pictures with her husband enjoying fun times on a boat in the open sea. The couple were all smiles in their photos while enjoying olives together and looked stunning.
After the pair tied the knot in 2021, Shelton said he was feeling “settled” with his wife. He called Stefani his best friend and said their relationship was “so natural and so normal” that it felt like the easiest thing he had ever been a part of.
Shelton added that his wife is everything that he needs and leans on. The “Rich Girl” singer also opened up about how she loves Shelton’s relationship with her children.
How Did Shelton Devote Himself to 3 Stepkids despite Stefani’s Concerns?
Stefani has three kids with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. The three sons are Kingston, 16, Zuma, 14, and Apollo, 8.
Shelton confessed that Stefani had doubts about the longevity and stability of their relationship because of her children’s presence.
Shelton’s love for his stepkids and their mom is so strong that it pushed him to choose them over his career. After a year of marriage, the country singer said he would leave his job on “The Voice.”
The country singer said Stefani thought that their relationship was just going to be about a moment in time due to her sons. However, Shelton said he didn’t think twice about committing to his wife and her kids.
The “Home” singer had a great example in his own father, who married his mother when she already had a child, Richie, his brother. Shelton noted that his dad raised Richie as his son and that his stepbrother knew him as his dad.
Shelton was even excited to know that Stefani had three boys. He felt that if his dad could do it, then he could do the same. The country singer confessed that he didn’t know what he was signing up for, but he was sure he wanted in.
Shelton now says every day he spent with the three boys, he fell in love with them just like he loves their mother.
The country singer spends time with his stepkids on his 1300-acre ranch near Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He said that at his age, he had never thought he would be blessed with kids who he noted were a surprise but “so much fun.”
The “Ol’ Red” singer said when he first took the boys to his ranch, they didn’t know what to do because they were so used to their lives in Los Angeles. He enjoyed taking them fishing as much as they were clueless about what to do.
Shelton encouraged them to embrace the outdoors, spend time in nature, and drive around; he even taught the boys how to fish. His stepkids now believe his ranch is their Disneyland, where they love to burn things, start fires, and throw hatchets.
Stefani also reflected on Shelton’s relationship with her kids. “He is a good dad, actually. He’s been helping me out a lot,” she confessed. The singer said whenever she feels overwhelmed with taking care of three boys, she asks Shelton to come home, and he does.
Shelton’s stepkids appreciate him and the effort he puts into raising them. A source revealed this and said the three boys “respect and love” their stepdad. Stefani’s sons also look at Shelton as a father figure.
The source also said that as much as Shelton has taken his role as a stepdad seriously, he ensures he doesn’t diminish Rossdale’s role as a father to the boys. The insider added that the three get along in their parenting and are in a “pretty healthy situation.”
How Did Shelton Choose Raising Stefani’s Boys over Career?
Shelton’s love for his stepkids and their mom is so strong that it pushes him to choose them over his career. After a year of marriage, the country singer said he would leave his job on “The Voice.”
He noted that he loves music and “The Voice,” but every cool thing he does in his profession will have to take a backseat as he wants to prioritize his wife and her kids in his new phase of life.
However, Shelton said he is lucky his record label will allow him to release songs when he feels like even as he slows down in his career. The country singer said he would keep releasing music until his fans fire him.
The “Some Beach” singer said he and his wife have worked hard over the years and done so much traveling and touring that they were now ready to sit in their sweatpants and watch TV.
As per Shelton, he is slowing down in his career because he doesn’t want to miss out on vital things in life. “For now, that’s our kids,” he explained. He added that his life isn’t about him only anymore but also about Stefani and his stepkids:
“Even though I’m a stepparent, I take that job very seriously. The kids see me as a very important person in their life.”
Shelton said when his stepkids ask why he isn’t with them, he takes that question very seriously. “I’ve made plenty of money, but you can’t buy time back. I don’t want any regrets,” he noted.
The 47-year-old also revealed that Stefani and his stepkids had given him a deeper fulfillment. He said his family had taught him things about himself that he never knew.
Over the years, Shelton has learned that he is someone his family can depend on, a responsibility he never had or even considered taking. He remarked:
“It’s a different kind of self-worth. Maybe it’s the opposite of self-worth because you put yourself way down on the rung, and they move up ahead of you.”
Shelton, who now wants to invest in family, said his happiest times these days are when he enjoys moments with Stefani, who makes epic family meals, and his three stepkids at their ranch in Oklahoma.
